Though we follow a saviour who walked the earth nearly two thousand years ago, and we read a book completed not long afterwards, we remain convinced that this ancient faith speaks to today's world. We are ordinary people from different backgrounds and different parts of Leicester, united by a desire to glorify God in the modern world. We want everyone to feel welcome at Knighton, whether they have been a Christian for years, or are thinking about Christianity for the first time.
Knighton includes members from diverse church traditions. Nonetheless we are bound together with a strong sense of unity and common purpose. This unity centres on the fundamnetal truths of the Gospel. We believe that Christians from different backgrounds can unite together on these essential truths of the Gospel, irrespective of their differences over secondary doctrinal or denominational matters.
The Gospel truths that unite us are...
The Divine inspiration and infallibility of Holy Scripture, as originally given, and its supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
One living and true God, sovereign in creation, providence and redemption, subsisting in three persons - the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit - the same in substance and equal in power and glory.
The universal sinfulness and guilt of human nature since the fall, rendering man subject to God's wrath and righteous condemnation.
Redemption from the guilt, penalty and power of sin only through the sacrificial death, as our representative and substitute, of Jesus Christ, the incarnate Son of God.
The bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, His ascension into heaven, His present exaltation and His ministry in heaven to all believers as High Priest and Advocate.
The necessity of the work of the Holy Spirit to make the death effective to the individual sinner, granting him repentance toward God and faith in Jesus Christ as the sole means of his justification.
The indwelling and continuing work of the Holy Spirit in every believer to equip for Christian life and service, to sanctify and to guide into all truth.
The Lordship of Christ over the universal church, in which all the redeemed are united as members of one body, of which Christ is the head.
The personal and glorious return of the Lord Jesus Christ to earth, the bodily resurrection and judgement of all men, the glorification of all believers in heaven and the eternal punishment of those who do not know God nor obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.
Operation Christmas Child attempts to bring joy into the lives of impoverished children at Christmas. Last year over 200 gift filled shoe boxes were donated by the people of Knighton. We are asking for your support again this year.
