SUNDAYS

We meet as a church each Sunday at 10.30am and 6.30pm.

We want Knighton to be a real centre for our community, a place where everybody will feel welcome. There's always a few friendly men and women on the door to welcome you and, if you are new, to show you where everything is.

Here's what you can expect if you come to one of our services. As you sit down in the church itself, and take a few minutes to get comfy, you will probably notice that the church is quite full. There's a real mixture of ages and types of people; some are smartly dressed but others more casual, so whatever you are wearing you'll feel comfortable.

We try to make the service itself varied and interesting, since we want it to be enjoyable for people of all ages and backgrounds. It's lively without being wild, wierd or over the top!

We love to sing and praise God in a way that is lively and contemporary but also reverent and God-centred. Our music is drawn largely from traditional hymns and the best of the new modern songs as well as songs for the children.

A music group leads the congregational singing. It is not a professional orchestra of international standing, but a loose ensemble of willing musicians and singers! A variety of instruments are played, including piano, guitars, trumpet, violin, flute and drums. Those who play are both church members and non-members, with students often having a significant role in the group.

The whole point is to help us to get to know God better, so that we can appreciate him more and discover more about how he wants us to live. So we take some time to listen to what the Bible says, and what it means to live as a Christian in the modern world. The children leave the main morning service part of the way through and have a separate Sunday School. The morning service finishes by 12.00noon and at about 8pm in the evening. If you want, there's time for coffee, chat and the chance to make new friends before you go home.
